Suzanne Lycett
About the artist
Suzanne Lycett specialises in highly detailed drawings of wildlife, pets and children, often working on commission. Growing up in rural Dorset, the natural surroundings would be the focus of her art from an early age.
Following a 20 year career in the music industry working for major record labels, Suzanne left to raise a family and further explore her creative interests. Now working in graphite and colour pencil on paper, pastelmat and drafting film, she enjoys the level of precision this medium offers for achieving realism. Drawing upon a combination of observation and photographic reference, Suzanne relishes the challenge of capturing a true likeness and a suggestion of character, through careful study of the subjects' unique features, nuanced expressions, and colour variations.
The abundance of flora and fauna found in Barnes, Richmond Park and the Dorset countryside is a great source of inspiration; her work reflects a connection with the serenity, beauty and restorative power of nature.
